Welcome to THE FAT FIG Kitchen!

PANTRY MUST HAVES!
In order to create beautiful, nutritious and most importantly DELICIOUS food for you and your loved ones, there are a few pantry staples you will need, to get the inspiration juices flowing!
Below is a list of essentials I always have stocked in my kitchen.
These items are not only extremely versatile, they are full of nutrition and relatively cheap too!
PRODUCE STAPLES
~Onions (Red and Yellow)
~Garlic
~Lemons
~Fresh Ginger Root – Store in Freezer until needed
~Fresh Parsley and Cilantro (Coriander)

FATS and VINEGARS
~Extra Virgin Olive Oil
~Extra Virgin or Virgin Coconut Oil – Love this for Asian dishes
~Red Wine Vinegar
~Balsamic Vinegar
~Apple Cider Vinegar
~Rice Wine Vinegar~Dijon Mustard

GRAINS and NUTS
~Brown Rice
~Whole Wheat Pasta
~Quinoa – Super grain full of protein
~Natural unsalted Nuts (Pecans, Almonds, Walnuts, Peanuts, Hazelnuts and Cashews) ~Store in the freezer to prevent rancidity.

CANNED and PACKAGED FOODS
~Organic Low Sodium Chicken and Beef Stocks – OR - Homemade that I keep ~frozen
~Diced Tomatoes
~Beans and Legumes (Chickpeas, assorted Beans and Lentils) Just drain and rinse!
~Honey
~Tahini (Sesame seed paste) - great for dressings and dips
~Coconut Milk (Add water and you have Light Coconut Milk for half the price!)
~Panko Bread Crumbs

DRIED HERBS and SPICES
Herbs and spices add huge flavor and are CALORIE FREE!
Invest in a variety of herbs and spices for your pantry and you can create a huge range of flavor packed dishes without hurting your wallet.
I love to cook with fresh herbs, but dried herbs definitely have their place in the kitchen. Just squish them between your palms to release their flavor before adding to your dish.
HERBS
~Oregano
~Parsley
~Thyme
~Basil
~Bay Leaf
~Sage
~Rosemary
~Saffron – expensive but worth it! A little goes a long way!

SPICES
~Cayenne
~Chili flakes
~Garlic Powder
~Paprika (Sweet and Smoked)
~Curry
~Chili Powder
~Garam Masala
~Cinnamon
~Cumin Seeds
~Fennel Seeds
~Mustard Seeds
~Onion Powder
~Coriander Seeds


SEASONINGS

~Black Peppercorns
~Good Quality Sea Salt
